Satcom Direct Gains Falcon 7X Plane Simple Approvals

Satcom Direct has received FAA and EASA approvals to install its Plane Simple connectivity system on Dassault Falcon 7X business jets.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) have all granted supplemental-type certification (STC) approvals.

The Ku-band based system utilizes a tail-mounted antenna, which the company says can be retrofitted quickly to an aircraft, minimizing downtime.

The SD Plane Simple Ku-band antenna variant is now available for installation through the Dassault factory MRO and Dassault Aircraft Services network.

The collaboration between Satcom Direct and Dassault Aircraft Services in Little Rock, Arkansas, played a crucial role in obtaining the STC, enabling the release of the Plane Simple Ku Service Bulletin for the Falcon model in April 2023.

The certification came shortly after SD’s Plane Simple antenna series was commercially launched in February 2023.

SD Founder and CEO Jim Jensen said the Plane Simple system has raised the connectivity bar in the industry. “The STC makes the full Satcom Direct ecosystem of hardware, software, ground infrastructure, cybersecurity, and award-winning customer support immediately available to this set of Falcon owners,” he said.

The simplified antenna is easy to install and requires just two-line replaceable units, namely the tail-mounted antenna and the SD modem unit, which makes the maintenance process more cost-effective.
