There were 4,167 civil turbine helicopters based in the Asia-Pacific region at the end of 2025, which represented a modest net increase of just 30 units compared to 2024. This 0.7% year-on-year growth was less than half that of the period 2023–2024, during which the fleet grew by 2.0%. There were perhaps signs of reduced demand for turbine helicopters in Asia-Pacific, although this could be a short term trend considering replacement cycles and existing capacity from the more significant fleet growth through the mid-to-late 2010s.

Airbus Helicopters was the leading manufacturer in the Asia-Pacific region with a based fleet of 1,746 helicopters (41.9% fleet share) at the end of 2025. Bell accounted for a 27.3% fleet share with 1,137 units, whilst Leonardo took a 12.0% share with 502 units. Some 55.5% of the Asia-Pacific based turbine fleet were Multi-Mission helicopters, followed by Corporate/Private use with an 11.3% share and Charter with 9.0%. Offshore, EMS and SAR fleets had similar shares of around 6–7% each.
Single turbine engine helicopters were most popular among Asia-Pacific based operators with 2,178 units (52.3% of the fleet), with Medium Twins taking a 20.3% share and Light Twins with 18.8%. These fleet shares were almost identical to those of year end 2024.
The single engine Airbus AS350/H125 series remained the most popular type in the Asia-Pacific region with 725 units, which accounted for almost 18.0% of the entire Asia-Pacific based fleet. There were 472 Bell 206s based in the region at the end of 2025, whilst the Leonardo AW139 was the most popular Medium Twin in Asia-Pacific with 258 units.
Australia had the largest based turbine helicopter fleet at the end of 2025 with 1,051 units, up 2.4% year-on-year. Mainland China’s based fleet declined slightly year-on-year to 697 units in 2025, down from 699 in 2024. Japan also saw a small reduction of five units year-on-year to 664 at the end of 2025. The New Zealand based fleet increased by six units during 2025 while India’s based fleet increased by seven units.
There were 93 new deliveries and 99 pre-owned additions to the Asia-Pacific based fleet in 2025. This represented a 14.7% year-on-year decline in new deliveries, while pre-owned additions remained unchanged compared with 2024. There were no new helicopter types introduced in Asia-Pacific during 2025, with the Airbus H160 being the latest “new” type delivered, with eight handed over for a total of 12 in the region by the end of 2025.
Airbus was also the overall leading manufacturer for new deliveries with 52 units handed over to Asia-Pacific – 55.9% of all new deliveries to the region. The Airbus H125 and H145 series were the two most popular models for new deliveries with 19 and 14 units, respectively. Leonardo’s AW139, which was the most popular model for new deliveries in 2024, recorded 11 deliveries during 2025. Single turbine engine helicopters were most popular for both new deliveries and pre-owned additions, with 37 and 50, respectively.
The growth in demand for pre-owned additions was again led by Airbus with 49 units, including 20 AS350/H125 series and 11 EC145/H145 series. Some 162 turbine helicopters left the Asia-Pacific region during 2025, which comprised retirements and exports to other regions. The majority of retirements comprised older models such as the AS350, Bell 206 and Bell 412.
Australia recorded the highest number of net additions during 2025 with 25 units, with Japan and Malaysia having the largest number of net deductions with five units each. This was not a significant number considering the size of the fleets, and further supported the fact that demand for helicopters in the Asia-Pacific region remains fairly strong but the existing capacity is adequate to cope with overall demand.
