Editor’s Note – Asian Sky Quarterly Q4 2024

Is it just me, or did time seem to speed up, making 2024 feel like it only lasted for three months?

This time last year I sat in exactly the same place, drinking exactly the same coffee and probably wearing exactly the same clothes (it works for Zuck) writing to you saying that we had just opened up ticket sales for the Asian Sky Forum.

That event was, in the words of several people, spectacular. It’s not an overexaggeration to say that event exceeded our expectations, but it left us with one slight problem; How do we top it?

By now, there’s a strong possibility that you will have already heard that the Asian Sky Forum 2025 will be held in Bangkok. Maybe you read it in a previous editorial, maybe you heard that from one of our team, or maybe you saw it in the LinkedIn post that I accidentally got in a little bit of trouble about. Either way, we will head to Bangkok at the end of June for another two full days of engaging panel discussions and networking. The choice to do it in Bangkok was taken for us, although we already had a good idea that it would be held there. You can visit here to find out more about the event and secure your pass to attend here: www.asianskygroup.com/events/asian-sky-forum-2025-bangkok

It’s already shaping up to be even better than Jakarta last year. For this year’s event we opened up a pre-registration list – we were forced to as so many people were asking us if they could register before we had all of the systems in place. But now people can go ahead and register, so we are expecting a big turnout.

This edition of Quarterly is the last one before we introduce a redesign. Our expert team of designers have been working hard to come up with a fresh and modern new look, which will be introduced in the next edition, right before EBACE starts.

But back to this edition, which will come out a few weeks ahead of the new Business Aviation Asia Forum & Expo which will take place in Singapore in early March. The new exhibition, no doubt expertly organized by Experia Events – the team behind the wildly successful Singapore Airshow amongst others, looks to fill the void left over from ABACE not returning after Covid. We sat down with Experia Event’s MD Leck Chet Lam to find out more about the show, and asked how the preparations are going. You can find out more by reading our feature on page 8.

Elsewhere in this Quarterly we also have a special feature about the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre (HKBAC). Although it is the only FBO in Hong Kong, the HKBAC team are not just sitting back, they have invested a considerable sum of money on not only modernizing its current facilities, but adding additional facilities that help streamline passengers journeys through the FBO. You can read more about the exciting HKBAC developments on page 6.

As ever we would like to thank everybody that has contributed to the edition of Quarterly.

Sincerely,
Alud Davies
