Overall, the fleet size in Asia-Pacific continued to grow in 2025, with a moderate expansion rate compared with the previous year. Growth continued to be driven primarily by fleet expansion in the Multi-Mission segment, particularly in the light categories.

After six consecutive years of expansion, Australia’s helicopter fleet continued to strengthen, reaching 1,051 helicopters by the end of 2025. This further reinforced its position as the largest helicopter market in the Asia-Pacific region. Following Australia were mainland China, Japan, and New Zealand, with fleets of 697, 664, and 571 helicopters respectively. These four countries continued to account for the majority of the region’s total fleet, representing 71.6% of the regional total.

Australia once again led the Asia-Pacific helicopter market by adding 25 units in 2025. Although this marked a slower pace compared to the previous year, the country maintained steady growth supported by its vast geography, extensive remote areas, and the need for cost-effective and agile operations. Australia’s mature regulatory framework and established operational practices continued to underpin fleet modernization and renewal.

India recorded the largest increase outside Australia, adding seven helicopters, largely driven by the multi-purpose light helicopter category. This was followed by the Philippines and New Zealand, each adding six units. Mongolia and Indonesia both expanded by two helicopters, while Nepal posted a marginal gain of one aircraft.

In contrast, several developed markets experienced contraction. Japan recorded a net decline of five helicopters, while Malaysia also reduced by five units. Thailand and Bangladesh each decreased by three helicopters, while Hong Kong and Vietnam each declined by one unit. Contraction in Japan mainly reflected the retirement of aging aircraft such as the AS355, AS365, and Bell 206/412 series.

At the sub-regional level, Oceania maintained its pillar position in the Asia-Pacific market and continued to lead growth in 2025, supported mainly by Australia’s fleet expansion, alongside fleet size increases in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. South Asia also maintained steady momentum, led by India.
