Pilatus reported sales totaling US$1.4 billion and an operating income of US$241 million for the 2022 financial year despite supply chain issues.
The Swiss manufacturer received new orders worth US$1.7 billion, taking the company’s total order backlog to US$2.6 billion. One of the major orders for Pilatus was the purchase agreement with US-based Tradewind Aviation for more than 20 PC-12 NGXs, which doubled the business airline’s fleet size.
Despite pandemic-related supply chain disruptions, Pilatus delivered 40 PC-24s, 80 PC-12NGXs, 10 PC-21s and 3 PC-6s in 2022. Looking at the company’s sales by region, 42% came from The Americas, 35% from Europe, 21% from the APAC region and 2% from Africa.
Markus Bucher, CEO of Pilatus, said the past year was very positive overall despite serious supply chain difficulties and geopolitical instability. “Pilatus has achieved a lot whilst also benefitting from exceptionally high demand for our unique aircraft,” Bucher said.
“I’m very happy with the year-end results and the Pilatus team performed very well. Our PC-12 NGXs and PC-24s were, and are, absolute bestsellers, our order books are full,” said Hansueli Loosli, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Pilatus.
Whilst aircraft deliveries accounted for a substantial share of business results, Pilatus’s customer service business grew by 10% in 2022, driven primarily by the acquisition of Skytech – a US sales and service center for PC-24 and PC-12 aircraft.
Pilatus noted 2023 has got off to a “confident start,” and expects the construction of its maintenance hangar in Buochs, Switzerland to start by H2 2023, as well as the delivery of the 2,000th PC-12 and 200th PC-24 to occur this year.
