Textron Inc. announced the appointment of Lisa Atherton as President and CEO of Bell, effective April 28, 2023.
Atherton will succeed Mitch Snyder, who is retiring after being part of Bell for close to 20 years, including seven years as the company’s President and CEO.
Atherton had served as Bell’s Chief Operating Officer before being appointed to her new role and was previously the President and CEO of Textron Systems from June 2017 to January 2023.
She joined Textron Defense Systems in 2007 before transitioning to Bell in 2013, where she held numerous positions including the Executive Vice President of Military Business in the company’s military programs.
After graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy, she also served at the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command’s Directorate of Requirements for eight years.
“I am grateful beyond measure! I also know that I stand on the shoulders of giants as I step into this next role. Mitch brought me to Bell 11 years ago and I could not have imagined then the amazing journey ahead of me. Thankful to Textron for entrusting me with this awesome responsibility,” Atherton said in a LinkedIn post.
Textron Chairman and CEO Scott C. Donnelly expects Bell to continue growing under Atherton’s leadership.
“Lisa has done an outstanding job of building strong teams at Bell and Textron Systems in her 16 years with the company and has earned the confidence of our customers. Under her leadership, Bell will continue its strong execution across military and commercial programs and I am confident that she will provide the strategic vision to generate future growth for Bell,” he said.
He also praised Snyder for taking the company to new heights during his tenure.
“I also want to thank Mitch for his leadership. During his tenure, Mitch oversaw the development of new technologies and product innovations, significant wins in Bell’s military business and the expansion of our commercial programs,” Donnelly added.
