Kintetsu Group Holdings (Kintetsu) will be investing in Japanese flying car manufacturer SkyDrive.
Both companies are looking to have air taxi services ready for the 2025 World Expo in Osaka.
A partnership agreement is also in the works. It will mainly focus on studying electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) operations in the Osaka and Ise-Shima areas.
Other areas of study include exploring ways to integrate flying cars with ground-based transport, such as railways, and how to improve tourist sites with eVTOLs.
“At first, we envision the practical use of flying cars in Osaka and Ise-Shima areas. We will then endeavor to contribute to the development of local economies, as well as making everyday life safer, more enjoyable, and more convenient,” states Tomohiro Fukuzawa, CEO of SkyDrive.
SkyDrive says that it will likely see practical usage of its flying cars by 2025. It recently partnered with Suzuki to reach that goal.
