XPENG X2 Receives CAAC Special Flight Permit

Chinese flying car company XPENG AEROHT has been certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) with its XPENG X2 vehicle, making it the first manned eVTOL aircraft in China to receive such certification.

The certification under CCAR Part 21 “Certification of Civil Aviation Products and Parts” recognizes the aircraft’s capability to carry safe flights under certain conditions.

“With the special flight permit this time, we will carry more manned flight tests to provide statistics for further research and mass production,” the company said in a WeChat announcement.

XPENG X2 is the fifth-generation flying car developed by XPENG AEROHT, an affiliate of Chinese electric vehicle maker XPENG. XPENG X2 conducted its first test flight in 2021 and made its overseas maiden flight in Dubai in 2022.
