Urban-Air Port Partners with Blue Innovation on AAM

Urban-Air Port has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Blue Innovation (BI), a drone system integrator.

The companies will work together on creating a variety of proofs of concept (POC) for autonomous drone operations and vertiports. Drone applications include transporting medical equipment, maintenance and logistics work.

This will create an advanced air mobility (AAM) hub in Japan using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

“Japan is a key market for Urban-Air Port. Collaborating with Blue Innovation establishes us in Japan, providing best-in-class technology as well as a platform for further development and cooperation. Similarly, this agreement gives Blue Innovation a far broader reach in terms of geography and customers,” says Adrian Zanelli, Chief Financial Officer at UAP.

BI will also provide its Vertiport Information Management System (VIMS) that has remote beyond visible line of sight (BVLOS) control of drones.

The partnership aims to develop other POCs to launch AAM not only in Japan but globally.

UAP recently worked with Osprey to provide charging for non-aeronautical vehicles at its vertiports.
