Irish Coast Guard Picks Bristow as Preferred Bidder

Bristow Ireland, a subsidiary of Bristow Group, has been unveiled as the preferred bidder for the next Irish Coast Guard (IRCG) search & rescue aviation (SAR) contract. The announcement was made by the Irish Department of Transport.

Under the terms of the agreement, Briwstow will offer day and night-time operations at four helicopter bases – Sligo, Shannon, Waterford, and Dublin.

Alongside the helicopter service, the newly established Coast Guard aviation service will feature a fixed-wing aircraft element for the first time.

Alan Corbett, Bristow’s Chief Operating Officer, Government Services, expressed his gratitude at Bristow Ireland being named the preferred bidder for the IRCG SAR contract. He added that progress is being made in regard to finalizing the deal.

“We are honored the Irish Department of Transport has confirmed Bristow Ireland as the preferred bidder for the provision of the Irish Coast Guard Aviation Service,” he said. “We will continue working closely with the Irish Department of Transport to finalize contracts and look forward to integrating our significant global experience and capabilities into this critical public service.”

The impending agreement for the IRCG SAR contract comes after Bristow posted revenues of USD$302 million in the first quarter of 2023, a 3.7% decrease from USD$313.6 million year on year.
