Electra.aero recently announced that it has completed the ground integration testing of a 150 kW hybrid electric propulsion system for its electric short take-off and landing (eSTOL) aircraft.
The tests, which took place at the company’s Switzerland-based facility, used high-powered battery packs and a turbogenerator to power eight motors and propellers.
Electra.aero plans to install the hybrid-electric system on its technology demonstrator, which it hopes to have built and put into test service before the end of 2022.
Earlier in 2022 Electra announced that it had acquired Airflow Electric Aircraft, a company that is also building a hybrid-electric aircraft.
