A 2015-build LearJet 75 registered in Brazil as PP-MIX / 45-527 suffered a runway excursion at São Paulo’s Congonhas Airport, one of Brazil’s busiest business aviation airports, on October 10, 2022.
In a video uploaded to the Brazilian YouTube channel Clima ao Vivo, the LearJet can be seen landing on Congonhas’ runway 35 Left. However, halfway through the aircraft’s rollout, the pilot loses control of the aircraft and it begins to veer out of control, and smoke can be seen pouring out from the aircraft’s wheels.
After exiting the runway, the LearJet crosses a grassy area, and comes to rest shortly before the end of the airport boundary.
A later inspection found that the tires had burst on the left side of the LearJet.
According to the Aviation Safety Network, the Learjet was completing a flight from Foz do Iguaçu/Cataratas Airport with three passengers and two crew on board at the time of the incident.
Footage obtained and posted on Twitter by Breaking Aviation News and Videos, shows the Learjet intact, with its nose resting right at the airport boundary. Just past the airport boundary is a short drop down to a roadway.
