Bombardier will replace the Global 7500 with the newly announced Global 8000.
Bombardier’s President and Chief Executive Officer Éric Martel made the announcement during a special ceremony during the 2022 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Global 8000 builds on the Global 7500 by increasing the aircraft’s range by 300nm to 8,000nm and increasing the top speed to Mach 0.94, making it the fastest business jet ever built.
Speaking during the announcement, Martel played on the time theme, by first talking about how Geneva was the perfect place to make the announcement as it is the home of fine watchmakers.
He then introduced a video of the Global 8000 by stating that there were many other reasons that Geneva was the perfect place to launch the aircraft. “In fact, you could say there are 8000,” said Martel.
Although Bombardier’s accompanying press release is thin on the ground when it comes to details, it does state that the Global 8000 will enter into service in 2025.
It also states that current Global 7500 customers will be able to upgrade their aircraft to become Global 8000s.
“Expected to enter service in 2025, the Global 8000 aircraft development is ongoing, and the program is progressing to plan. And for the current Global 7500
operators, the incredible performance enhancements on the Global 8000 will be retrofittable when the aircraft enters into service in 2025,” said the company in a press release.
The Global 8000 will have a top speed of Mach .094 and an ultra-long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.92. Bombardier says that the increased range of the Global 8000 means that it can connect city pairs including London to Perth, Australia.

aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era. We remain unmatched, which for an innovation-focused team like us, is great.”
Bombardier is confident that it can increase the speed of the Global 8000 as it has pushed a Global 7500 to fly through the sound barrier.
The company says that FTV5, one of the original Global 7500 flight test aircraft, flew at Mach 1.015 during a test flight in March 2021.
The flight was conducted using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and in doing so became the first time that SAF had been used during a supersonic flight.
