Volocopter’s VoloConnect eVTOL Takes Flight

Volocopter’s VoloConnect eVTOL Takes Flight

Volocopter announced at the UP.Summit that its fixed-wing aircraft, the VoloConnect, completed its first flight in May 2022.

This is a milestone in the urban air mobility (UAM) industry and makes Volocopter the first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) developer to have its entire fleet start test flights.

“This is an extraordinary moment for us – seeing the VoloConnect soar to the sky marks the achievement of one of our key milestones and demonstrates just what we are capable of in a short time and in line with the company’s overall strategy for crewed and uncrewed aircraft,” says Sebastian Mores, Volocopter’s Chief Engineer.

The VoloConnect aircraft aims to connect urban cities with suburbs and will start services by 2026.

Volocopter’s other eVTOL, the VoloCity, plans to launch air taxi services in 2024.

In the future, the company aims to use its VololQ digital platform to combine all its flight operations and services to provide a smoother travel experience.

Volocopter recently partnered with Jetex

to establish a safe and sustainable model for UAM.
