Skyportz has opened its property partner database and announced its modular vertiport design at the World Air Taxi Congress in Istanbul, Turkey.
The vertiport was designed by Contreras Earl Architecture (Australia), Arup and To70 Aviation. Electric aircraft developer Beta Technologies will provide battery charging infrastructure.
Skyportz previously announced the first Australian vertiport partnership at a business park in Melbourne at Caribbean Park just outside of the CBD.
“With the development of a vertiport in a business park, we are breaking the nexus between aviation and airports. For this industry to succeed it needs to have policy makers and property owners pushing the envelope to support new “mini airports” in locations people want to go”, said Clem Newton-Brown, CEO, Skyportz.
The vertiport, which will have three active pads and multiple charging bays once it is done, can be used for other purposes for now, such as event spaces, cafes, bars or meetings rooms.
“Skyportz can provide a branded network with Beta charging facilities ready to operate as soon as the eVTOL aircraft are available,” said Newton-Brown.
He also highlighted the urgency for the property industry and policy makers to enable vertiport networks to be established.
With Skyportz’s vertiport database growing daily, the company can accept registrations from potential vertiport locations around the world and assemble networks of sites in any launch market sought by investors.
