LCI Orders Up To 125 eVTOLs

LCI has ordered up to 125 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from BETA Technologies (BETA). The aircraft aims to provide a greener way to move cargo, medical equipment, and passengers.

“We are embracing this new era of sustainable flight and BETA Technologies’ innovative approach makes them a natural and credible partner for LCI. We believe that the aircraft’s blend of rechargeable battery power, significant internal capacity, and plentiful range is an optimal one,” states Jaspal Jandu, CEO of LCI.

eVTOLs also have lower maintenance requirements. LCI will initially obtain 50 aircraft, with an option of an additional 75. The aircraft will be built at BETA’s facility in Burlington, Vermont.

They will add to LCI’s existing fleet, increasing its fleet to more than 270. LCI and its parent company, Libra Group, further plan to share their expertise with BETA.

LCI recently acquired five more helicopters for its joint venture with Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company (SMFL).

LCI’s CEO Jaspal Jandu also spoke with Asian Sky Media on the company’s future role of eVTOLs.
