Singapore-based EvFly, which plans to bring advanced air mobility to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa using eVTOL and eCTOL aircraft, announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Ascendance Flight Technologies to purchase 15 aircraft, with an option to purchase a further 50 aircraft.
EvFly says that its first routes will be developed in Thailand. It is also actively seeking different manufacturers, primarily for smaller two-seat eVTOL or small hybrid aircraft, to start pilot training operations in Thailand by the end of 2023.
“Our goal is to have a fleet of 60 aircraft by 2030,” an EvFly spokesperson said, “This is a new industry, so we need to evaluate and test the market before we can prove exactly which type of aircraft is best for our fleet.”
EvFly said it is now in negotiations to order additional eVTOL aircraft, including a two-seat model for pilot training. The company is also seeking to purchase a number of seven-seat eCTOL aircraft that will be operated from the airport.
EvFly, founded by former commercial pilot Yannick Erbs, intends to operate its fleet to serve not only the passenger market, but also cargo delivery, emergency ambulance, offshore platforms, private VIP transport and other missions such as road surveillance or fire safety. EvFly plans to launch commercial flights in mid-2025.
