Columbia Helicopters Appoints New CEO

Columbia Helicopters has appointed Michael Tremlett as its new President and CEO effective next year. Tremlett previously served as the company’s Executive Vice President.

Steve Bandy, the current President and CEO of the heavy-lift helicopter operator and OEM service will remain on the Board of Directors as Vice Chairman.

“It is an extreme honor to take the helm of this incredible company and lead it into the next chapter,” said Tremlett. “I am looking forward to working with our entire team to propel Columbia Helicopters toward our 2023 goals and secure new opportunities while we continue to grow our services with our current customers.”

With more than 26 years of aviation experience, Tremlett joined Columbia as Vice President of Business Development in 2021 and became Executive Vice President in 2022. His predecessor Bandy joined Columbia Helicopters in 1989 and was appointed as the President in 2017.

“After a very fulfilling 34-year career, the time has come for me to retire. From my beginnings here as a copilot to my time as President/CEO, the adventures, challenges, and people of Columbia have been a dream come true,” Bandy said.

Columbia became a portfolio company of AE Industrial Partners since it was acquired by the U.S.-based private equity firm in 2019.
