A 1982-build Challenger 600S registered in Mexico as XB-SGV / msn 1062 was destroyed on December 30, 2022, shortly after departing from Celaya airport, Mexico, killing both pilots on board.
According to the Aviation Safety Network website, the Challenger was operating a flight from Celaya to Saltillo and had climbed to 26,000ft when air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft.
Mexican news reports suggest that the accident happened at around 14:40 local time, with local residents reporting shortly awards that they had seen the crash.
Local rescue services later reported that the wreckage of the aircraft was scattered around a one-mile radius.
Challenger 600S msn 1062 was registered in Mexico in October 2022. Before being registered in Mexico it was registered in the US as N444ET, but had previously operated in the mid-1980s for the Malaysian Air Force as M31-01.
