Bestfly is expanding its Leonardo helicopter fleet by adding its first fully-owned AW139 intermediate twin engine. The aircraft is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2022.
This adds to Bestfly’s two previously leased AW139s and four light intermediate twin AW169s, which were purchased at the end of 2021.
The helicopters will be used to fly offshore transport missions concentrating on the energy mining and tourism sectors in Angola.
Bestfly’s helicopter fleet is projected to consist of seven Leonardo aircraft by the end of 2022, for a total fleet of 30 aircraft.
Leonardo recently received 23 new helicopter orders, with deliveries planned in 2022 and 2023.
According to Asian Sky Media’s Asia-Pacific Civil Helicopter Fleet Report, the AW139 remains Leonardo’s most popular aircraft, with a total of 244 helicopters based in the Asia-Pacific region.
