Archer to Complete Midnight Manufacturing Facility in 2024

Archer Aviation, the American eVTOL developer, announced its manufacturing facility for large-scale production of the Midnight electric aircraft will be completed in the first half of 2024.

Situated in Covington, Georgia, the facility will span 350,000 square feet and be capable of producing up to 650 aircraft annually. The site can be expanded by an extra 800,000 square feet, which would enable Archer to ramp up production to 2,300 aircraft per year.

Aside from mass production, the San Jose-based firm confirmed it will also test each aircraft built at the location before it is delivered.

“Construction of our high-volume manufacturing facility is well underway in Covington, GA with a targeted completion date in the first half of 2024,” Archer said in a post on Twitter.

“This facility is where we will scale manufacturing of Midnight in partnership with Stellantis and test each aircraft prior to delivery to various customers and markets for commercial operation.”

Archer’s premises is believed to be the first high-volume manufacturing facility in the eVTOL sector. It was also the first company to announce “specific point-to-point routes” in New York and Chicago.

The Midnight eVTOL, which successfully completed wind tunnel testing last month, is scheduled to enter the market by 2025. Designed to hold up to four passengers, it can fly 100 miles at speeds of 150 mph.
