Connectivity service provider SmartSky Networks recently gained a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of SmartSky hardware on the Cessna Citation X series business jets.
The first operator to use the STC was Private jet fleet operator FlyExclusive, just days after the FAA issued the certificate.
“We aim to make high-performance, reliable inflight connectivity available for everyone in business aviation and this successful certification with a key customer is an important step towards achieving that goal,” said Dave Helfgott, CEO, SmartSky Networks.
SmartSky announced in July that its ATG connectivity is now available nationwide for aircraft flying on routes across the US. The company has previously been awarded STCs for aircraft from Textron Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace, Bombardier and Embraer.
There are more than 300 Citation X aircraft currently in service.
