Genesys Aerosystems, an avionics company acquired by Moog, recently announced that its HeliSAS® Autopilot and Stability Augmentation System for the Bell 505 has received full EASA certification for both 2-axis and 3-axis autopilots.
The EASA certification approval complements HeliSAS® existing FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) on the Bell 505, as well as the UK and Brazilian STCs.
“The Bell 505 is highly successful worldwide, and Genesys wants to ensure the safety-enhancing HeliSAS® system is also available in Europe,” said Jamie Luster, Marketing and Sales Director, Genesys. “We look forward to continuing to strengthen our cooperation with Bell on other foreign certifications as needed.”
The HeliSAS® helicopter Autopilot and Stability Augmentation System can effectively ease pilot workload if they lose mobility, space disorientation or visual reference by bringing the helicopter back to the neutral position by simply releasing the joystick.
To support green initiatives, Bell announced during Heli-Expo 2022 that it will partner with Safran to explore the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) in Bell 505s. There are more than 360 Bell 505s currently in service around the world.
