Lilium Files 37 New Patents with EPO

Lilium has applied for 37 new patents, which have been published by the European Patent Office (EPO).

These patents detail the company’s inventions for the core technology of its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. If accepted by the EPO, it will help protect Lilium’s intellectual property.

Over 70% of Lilium’s patents focus specifically on Energy and Propulsion.

“The applications published today serve as a testament to our engineers’ ingenuity and commitment to pushing the limits of technology and reinforcing Lilium’s place at the forefront of eVTOL development,” states Daniel Wiegand, Co-Found and CEO of Lilium. He continues, “These patent filings move us one step closer to commercialization of the Lilium Jet, but they also stand to strengthen innovation in the industry as a whole, with areas like energy needing constant investment in novel and sustainable systems and technologies.”

Lilium plans to apply for further patents in markets such as the US and China.

The company recently gained its second design organization approval (DOA)

from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
