Advanced air mobility (AAM) company FLUTR has announced a new partnership with Wasl, a real estate and property management company in Dubai, to provide AAM services.
The collaboration, which was announced on September 13, will see FLUTR provide AAM services to Wasl’s 47,000 residential and commercial properties. This includes their hotels and apartment clients Le Meridien, Al Mina, Dusit, Hyatt, Hilton, Mandarin Oriental and Marriott, as well as golfing and boating venues such as the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Dubai Creek Marina, Emirates Golf Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Through the partnership, FLUTR hopes to provide an affordable and efficient form of travel for customers, and envisions first transporting passengers from airports in Dubai to Wasl properties, and then expanding their coverage to include more areas in Dubai. The company envisages passengers directly hailing an aircraft the same way one would hail a cab.
FLUTR is currently developing its own tilt wing rotor system two- and three-seat VTOL, which the company says will be able to fly at 160 mph for 45 minutes, with the option to fly an additional 15 minutes using reserve power and fuel.
Each VTOL will come with shrouded rotors, a parachute, remote pilot communications, electric wheels, as well as battery and sustainable aviation fuel options.
The network will launch upon the successful testing and certification of the VTOL according to the United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
“It is a challenge to incorporate this much functionality and performance into such a small vehicle (only a single car park space when folded), but we didn’t want to compromise on the vision of being able to zip through all the local airspace around us that is essentially un-used, being able to get anywhere by air on-demand. This is not only an exciting innovation for Dubai, but a big move forward for aviation and urban aerial mobility,” said Cameron Spencer, Chief Executive Officer of FLUTR.
