Eve, the Brazilian eVTOL manufacturer, entered into a consortium with Skyports, L3Harris Technologies, and the Community Air Mobility Initiative (CAMI) to develop a Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for urban air mobility (UAM) development with Miami International Airport (MIA) and the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Each company will concentrate on different areas. Skyports will design, build, and operate infrastructures for UAM aircraft, L3Harris will assist with operations through its air traffic management (ATM) technologies, whilst CAMI will support the integration of UAM into present communities.
“Miami-Dade County and Florida present a great opportunity for Eve to create a blueprint that can be replicated in markets in North America and other regions as we look toward the introduction of UAM operations,” Andre Stein, co-CEO of Eve explained. “Eve and the consortium have gained valuable insights into how best we, and our peers, can prepare the ecosystem to launch and scale safely.”
The first phase will include “listen and learn” sessions with stakeholders and will look at how to develop a framework for UAM ventures in Miami-Dade. This will let the group to better understand the environment and learn how a safe UAM ecosystem can be implemented. The sessions are to last until June 30, 2022.
Eve previously partnered with Skyports to develop an AAV CONOPS in Japan, in addition to formalizing its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) type certification process with the Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC).
