Eve has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Embraer and BAE Systems for up to 150 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles. The announcement was made during the Farnborough Air Show.
The parties aim to see how the aircraft can be applied in the defense and security market.
In another announcement, BAE Systems and Embraer signed an MoU to form a joint venture, which will develop eVTOLs used for defense, based on Eve’s platform.
“Our eVTOLs can be adapted to meet various essential applications in this market, such as humanitarian response and disaster relief. This collaboration also indicates that the defense market can be more sustainable and at the same time allows Eve to remain focused on exploring the Urban Air Mobility market,” says Andre Stein, Eve’s Co-CEO.
“We are exploring how we can adapt these solutions to bring vital operational capability to our customers quickly and at a lower cost – whilst also supporting environmental and sustainability goals,” says Ian Muldowney, Chief Operating Officer of BAE Systems Air.
The potential order will be added to Eve’s backlog of 1,910 eVTOLs.
Eve recently signed an LoI with Halo to launch urban air traffic management (UATM) software.
